2006 MSc.
in Geography and International Development Studies from
Specialisations___________________________________________________________________
Sustainable Land Use and Natural Resource
Management
Throughout
the course of my studies I have worked extensively with natural resource
management and environmental planning, in
Land tenure
Land tenure is my core specialisation and the
focus of much of my graduate work. Tenure struggles refer to the terms and
conditions on which natural resources are held and used making it a matter of
relationships between individuals and groups of individuals over the use rights
and obligations with respect to control and use of natural resources. Resource
tenure is in this way closely linked to political ecology because it refers to
the struggle to access natural resources and land as a highly political
struggle (a struggle for power).
GIS & Planning (ArcMap)
As part of my studies I have worked intensively with
acquiring an in dept understanding of GIS and I am trained in the use of ArcMap
and general cartography as a tool for spatial analysis. I have a conceptual
understanding of GIS and as well as an in-depth understanding of the use of GIS
in private and public sector planning. On a technical level I have an
up-to-date knowledge of ArcMap, but I have previously worked with Modular GIS
Environment and IDRISI.
Regional planning, industrial geography and
network theory
I have done
analytical studies of the geographical organisation and localisation of
different labour tasks and businesses, which are important if one wants to
understand some of the mechanisms behind the international division of labour.
Specifically I have worked with innovations and innovative network relations
and its significance for the development of IT products in relation to the
geography of the market and the users of the products. Among other things I
have studied the mechanisms behind so called knowledge centres in order to
understand the dynamics behind much regional development and planning.
